Ngày 14/1, tiếp sau tuyên bố của Hà Lan, đến lượt Đan Mạch trở thành quốc gia châu Âu mới nhất cho biết sẽ không cử bất kỳ đại diện chính thức nào tới Olympic Mùa Đông Bắc Kinh 2022.
Ngoại trưởng Đan Mạch Jeppe Kofod nói trong một tuyên bố: “Chính phủ (Đan Mạch) đã quyết định rằng chúng tôi sẽ không tham gia Olympic Mùa Đông tại Trung Quốc… Không có gì bí mật về việc Đan Mạch rất quan ngại về tình hình nhân quyền tại Trung Quốc”.
Trước đó, cùng ngày, Người phát ngôn Bộ Ngoại giao Hà Lan Frits Kemperman cho biết, nước này sẽ không cử phái đoàn ngoại giao chính thức tới Thế vận hội Mùa Đông Bắc Kinh 2022 do những biện pháp phòng chống dịch Covid-19.
Người phát ngôn này cho rằng, những biện pháp hạn chế liên quan COovid-19 tại Trung Quốc sẽ “hạn chế cơ hội tiếp xúc song phương” giữa phái đoàn Hà Lan “với nước chủ nhà” về “tình hình nhân quyền”.
