Thông tin chi tiết về những chuyến bay nội địa mà cặp đôi từng đi, khách sạn mà họ từng ở, cả những nhà hàng vịt quay, tiệm mỳ mà họ từng ghé qua trên hành trình đều được giới truyền thông Trung Quốc đăng tải. Người dân còn được yêu cầu thông báo xem những nơi họ đến có trùng lặp với cặp đôi nọ hay không.
Tất cả đều là một phần trong chiến dịch khẩn cấp của Trung Quốc nhằm ngăn chặn sự lây lan của COVID-19. Nhưng việc áp dụng những biện pháp mạnh tay như vậy đã trở thành điều thường thấy trong những tháng gần đây, bởi các đợt bùng phát dịch và ca nhiễm lác đác – thường là do chủng Delta – cũng thường xuyên xuất hiện.
