Tổng thống Putin cảnh báo nguy cơ hàng nghìn phần tử IS tập kết ở Afghanistan
Tổng thống Nga Vladimir Putin ngày 15/10 cho biết, hàng trăm tay súng trung thành với quân khủng bố Nhà nước Hồi giáo (IS) tự xưng đang tập kết ở miền bắc Afghanistan.
Thông tin được đưa ra tại thời điểm Moskva chuẩn bị đăng cai một cuộc gặp quốc tế bàn về tình hình Afghanistan với sự tham gia của Hoa Kỳ, Trung Quốc, Pakistan và phái đoàn của Taliban.
Vòng tham vấn này dự kiến diễn ra trong ngày 19-20/10 tới, tập trung vào việc thiết lập quan điểm chung về cục diện hiện tại ở Afghanistan.
“Theo thông tin tình báo mà chúng tôi có được, riêng số lượng thành viên IS ở miền bắc Afghanistan đã vượt 2.000 người”, ông Putin phát biểu tại cuộc gặp với trực tuyến với lãnh đạo các nước thuộc Cộng đồng các quốc gia độc lập (CIS) ngày 15/10.
Theo nhà lãnh đạo Nga, số phần tử khủng bố này có kế hoạch xâm nhập qua lại giữa các nước Trung Á dưới vỏ bọc người tị nạn và đây là nguy cơ rất lớn về an ninh.
Được biết, mặc dù Taliban khẳng định không gây ra mối đe dọa cho các nước Trung Á, song các nước thuộc Liên Xô cũ đã trở thành mục tiêu của các cuộc tấn công từ lực lượng Hồi giáo Afghanistan.
Liên quan diễn biến, nhiều tuần vừa qua, liên tục xảy ra các vụ tấn công, trong đó có một cuộc tấn công nhằm vào một thánh đường Hồi giáo tại thủ đô Kabul. Tổ chức Nhà nước Hồi giáo (IS) tự xưng được cho là thủ phạm.
Cũng sau khi Taliban tiếp quản Afghanistan, Nga đã tổ chức các cuộc tập trận quân sự với Tajikistan (nơi nước này có căn cứ quân sự Nga) và ở Uzbekistan. Cả hai nước đều có chung đường biên giới với Afghanistan.
