Quan chức Lầu Năm Góc điều trần tại Thượng viện: Tướng Mỹ tránh trả lời câu hỏi liên quan đến Biden
Bộ trưởng Quốc phòng Lloyd Austin, Chủ tịch Hội đồng Tham mưu trưởng Liên quân, Tướng Mark Milley và Tư lệnh Bộ Tư lệnh Trung ương Hoa Kỳ, Tướng Kenneth McKenzie đều đã làm chứng trong phiên điều trần hôm thứ Ba ngày 28/9 trước Ủy ban Dịch vụ Vũ trang Thượng viện.
Axios đưa tin, phiên điều trần của quan chức Lầu Năm góc chứng kiến sự chất vấn dồn dập từ các nhà lập pháp của cả phía hội trường. Các nhà lập pháp Đảng Dân chủ và Cộng hòa đều chỉ trích cuộc rút quân hỗn loạn khi quân đội Mỹ cố gắng điều phối một cuộc di tản khổng lồ của người Mỹ và các đồng minh Afghanistan trong bối cảnh Taliban nhanh chóng chiếm đóng Kabul. Sự chỉ trích về hành động của chính quyền càng leo thang khi 13 binh sĩ Hoa Kỳ thiệt mạng trong một cuộc tấn công gần sân bay Kabul của nhóm khủng bố ISIS-K.
Ba vị tướng Mỹ Austin, Milley và McKenzie đều rất thận trọng khi trả lời các câu hỏi về việc rút quân và từ chối thảo luận về các cuộc trò chuyện của họ với Tổng thống Biden.

Thượng nghị sĩ Tennessee Marsha Blackburn, người ngồi trong Ủy ban Dịch vụ Vũ trang, cho rằng hành động của ông Milley là “phản quốc”. Nhà Trắng đã bảo vệ hành động của tướng Milley.
Trong phiên điều trần, ông Milley bảo vệ hành động của mình, nói rằng ông chỉ đơn giản là thực hiện trách nhiệm công việc của mình.

Về cuộc tấn công bằng máy bay không người lái giết chết dân thường
Tướng McKenzie nói với các nhà lập pháp rằng, ông ta nhận trách nhiệm về vụ tấn công bằng máy bay không người lái ngày 29/8 khiến 10 thường dân Afghanistan thiệt mạng.

Ông Milley nói với các thượng nghị sĩ, từ ‘thiệt hại’ thích hợp để sử dụng ở tình huống này.
Về chống khủng bố ở “phía trước”
