Đài Loan tự tin về vị thế ‘pháo đài trên biển’ ngăn Trung Quốc bành trướng
Người đứng đầu Cơ quan Ngoại giao Đài Loan Ngô Chiêu Tiếp cho biết hòn đảo này là một ‘pháo đài trên biển’ ngăn chặn sự bành trướng của Trung Quốc vào Thái Bình Dương.
Hãng tin Reuters dẫn lời người đứng đầu Cơ quan Ngoại giao Đài Loan Ngô Chiêu Tiếp (Joseph Wu) ngày 15-9 cho biết Đài Loan là một “pháo đài trên biển” ngăn chặn sự bành trướng của Trung Quốc vào Thái Bình Dương.
Ông Ngô cũng cho biết Đài Loan sẵn sàng chia sẻ với các nền dân chủ khác kiến thức của họ về việc “chống lại những nỗ lực phá hoại của Bắc Kinh”.
Phát biểu tại diễn đàn trực tuyến do Viện Đài Loan toàn cầu về quan hệ Đài Loan-Mỹ tổ chức với sự tham dự của một số cựu quan chức cấp cao Mỹ, ông Ngô hôm 15-9 nói rằng Đài Loan đóng một “vai trò quan trọng” trong việc đảm bảo tự do hàng hải ở eo biển Đài Loan và Biển Đông.
“Cả hai đều rất quan trọng đối với hòa bình và ổn định ở khu vực Ấn Độ Dương. Quan trọng nhất, một Đài Loan dân chủ đóng vai trò như một pháo đài trên biển để ngăn chặn chủ nghĩa bành trướng của Trung Quốc vào Thái Bình Dương rộng lớn hơn” – ông Ngô khẳng định.
Theo ông Ngô, Trung Quốc tuyên bố Đài Loan là lãnh thổ của mình “để hợp pháp hóa sự hung hăng và chủ nghĩa bành trướng của mình”.
“Không phải chủ nghĩa bất bình đẳng này chính xác là nguyên nhân dẫn đến Chiến tranh thế giới thứ hai sao?” – ông Ngô cho hay.
Người đứng đầu Cơ quan Ngoại giao Đài Loan nói thêm rằng Đài Bắc không chỉ đối mặt các mối đe dọa quân sự từ Bắc Kinh, mà còn cả các cuộc tấn công mạng, các chiến dịch thông tin sai lệch và các chiến thuật “vùng xám” khác.
“Đài Loan đã học được những bài học quý giá và phát triển nhiều biện pháp khác nhau để giải quyết mối đe dọa đối với nền dân chủ, và chúng tôi sẵn sàng chia sẻ kiến thức này với các nền dân chủ khác” – ông Ngô nói.
Phía Bắc Kinh hiện chưa đưa ra bình luận về phát ngôn của ông Ngô.
Trước đó, Văn phòng các vấn đề Đài Loan của Trung Quốc hôm 15-9 đã lặp lại cảnh báo đối với chính quyền Đài Bắc không nên cố gắng tìm kiếm độc lập chính thức cho hòn đảo, nói rằng “những hành động khiêu khích và không hay” như vậy sẽ chỉ đe dọa hòa bình và ổn định.
Trung Quốc luôn coi Đài Loan là lãnh thổ của mình và không loại trừ khả năng dùng vũ lực để thống nhất, đồng thời xem Đài Loan là vấn đề nhạy cảm và quan trọng nhất trong quan hệ của họ với Mỹ.
Đài Loan khẳng định chỉ người dân của họ mới có thể quyết định tương lai của hòn đảo.
Giống hầu hết các quốc gia, Mỹ không có quan hệ ngoại giao chính thức với Đài Loan, song là bên cung cấp vũ khí và hậu thuẫn quốc tế quan trọng nhất của hòn đảo.
Trung Quốc đã tăng cường áp lực quân sự và ngoại giao đối với Đài Loan kể từ khi nhà lãnh đạo Đài Loan Thái Anh Văn lần đầu nhậm chức vào năm 2016, cũng như tìm cách buộc Đài Bắc phải chấp nhận yêu sách chủ quyền của Bắc Kinh, trước sự báo động của cả Đài Bắc và Washington.
