Mỹ bất lực trong việc chặn đòn tấn công tại Syria
Dù được bảo vệ bởi những hệ thống phòng không tiên tiến nhưng lực lượng Mỹ tại Syria vẫn không thể chặn được những cuộc tấn công nhằm vào mình.
Theo AMN, cuối ngày 8/9, lực lượng Mỹ ở phía bắc thị trấn al-Shaddadi, vùng nông thôn phía nam Al-Hasakah, Syria bị tấn công bởi tên lửa tầm ngắn. Đã có ít nhất 2 quả đạn 120mm dẫn đường chính xác đã được bắn vào căn cứ.
Một trong những quả đạn đã đánh trúng hàng rào của căn cứ, trong khi quả thứ hai bắn trúng một cơ sở bảo dưỡng phương tiện và vũ khí bên trong căn cứ tạo thành một tiếng nổ lớn.
Cuộc tấn công không gây thương vong nhưng làm thiệt hại đáng kể về vật chất. Khu khu nhà bảo dưỡng vũ khí bị phá hủy kèm theo đó nhiều trang thiết bị quân sự và vũ khí trong đó bị hỏng nặng hoặc không thể sửa chữa.
Sẽ không có gì đáng nói về vụ tấn công này nếu trước đó Mỹ không triển khai những hệ thống đánh chặn tầm ngắn Avenger để đối phó với những mục tiêu tầm gần như loại tên lửa vừa tấn công.
Được biết, Avenger được Mỹ triển khai đến Al-Hasakah và một số căn cứ tại Syria nhằm bảo vệ những mỏ dầu tại đây mà họ đang chiếm quyền kiểm soát.
Tuy nhiên kể từ khi được triển khai đến Syria hồi đầu năm 2021, chưa có bất kỳ báo cáo nào cho thấy một vụ đánh chặn thành công nào của hệ thống phòng không này.
Avenger là hệ thống phòng không gồm hai bệ phóng, mỗi bệ được trang bị 4 tên lửa vác vai FIM-92 Stinger và một súng máy M3P cỡ nòng 12,7 mm. Bệ phóng thường đặt trên khung gầm xe đa dụng Humvee, nhưng cũng có thể bố trí ở trận địa cố định hoặc trên nóc các tòa nhà.
Hệ thống được điều khiển bởi một binh sĩ, trang bị camera hồng ngoại, kính ngắm quang học và bộ đo xa laser. Nó cũng có thể tiếp nhận dữ liệu mục tiêu từ các cảm biến bên ngoài như radar AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel thông qua trung tâm điều phối hỏa lực tập trung.
Chính phủ Syria đã nhiều lần tuyên bố rằng sự hiện diện của lực lượng quân đội Mỹ ở nước này là vi phạm chủ quyền quốc gia và tất cả các quy định quốc tế.
