Lực lượng Taliban tại Pakistan ngày 5/9 đã lên tiếng thừa nhận đứng sau vụ đánh bom liều chết cùng ngày tại thành phố Quetta, thủ phủ tỉnh Balochistan, Tây Nam Pakistan làm 21 người thương vong.
SITE Intelligence Group dẫn tuyên bố của lực lượng Taliban tại Pakistan (TTP) cho biết là thủ phạm đứng sau vụ đánh bom bằng áo khoác và xe gắn máy cài thuốc nổ nhằm vào lực lượng bán quân sự Cảnh sát biên phòng Pakistan (FC).
TTP cũng tuyên bố đã sát hại và làm bị thương hơn 30 thành viên lực lượng FC trong vụ tấn công này.
Được biết, Quetta là nơi tập trung gần 500.000 người thiểu số Hazara theo Hồi giáo dòng Shiite. Cộng đồng này lâu nay vẫn là mục tiêu tấn công của nhóm khủng bố Nhà nước Hồi giáo (IS) tự xưng và các nhóm vũ trang Hồi giáo dòng Sunni khác.
Cảnh sát biên phòng cũng là mục tiêu tấn công thường xuyên của các nhóm nổi dậy ở tỉnh Balochistan trong cuộc chiến đòi mở rộng quyền tự trị tại khu vực này.
